who is this Anthony person?
As you already know, my name is Anthony. I was born in 1976 and by the time elections are held in 2012 I will be old enough to be on the ballot. I've never actually taken part in an election. Not as a voter nor as someone running for office. I figure my first action in the world of politics might as well be a big one, so here I am.
I'm not expecting to actually get my name on the ballot. What I'm expecting is that the other candidates will be lame enough that you will appreciate having someone's name to write in the 'Other' field. What I'm running is an official write-in campaign that I hope will send a message to somebody out there.
In reality, I do love my country. I would fight for my freedom and I would die for my freedom. I would not, however, fight and die for the oil needed to make the gasoline in my car. I will not fight or die so the rich executives of failed companies can get even richer. I wouldn't want to fight or die so that someone I don't know who has maxed out all their credit cards and was living it up for the past ten years can now get a free house because they are too broke to pay for their own. I just disagree strongly to the things our current leaders have done to this country. I may just be one little voice, but pearls are created by a little grain of sand. We have learned from the grain of sand that people will ultimately respect and admire you even if you are initially irritating to the core.
I expect that if I ever got close enough to actually being taken seriously about all of this, that my life would be immediately cut short by an assassin's bullet. I hope they do me the favor of at least facing me in man to man combat with a sword or something as opposed to a gun, but that is how the cowards who fear losing their little puppets would probably play. Fortunately I think the only thing my campaign will do is net me a couple thousand votes at the polls and send a message that the little irritating piece of sand can actually do something that nobody thought was possible. I'm going to get people who wear shirts that cost more than my car to take notice of me. My name will be mentioned in rooms that I would never be allowed in physically. My websites will get hits from the computers sitting in offices of men that I would never even dream of meeting. In the end, I will have created a kind of change that doesn't make you regret wanting it to begin with. I don't know what that change will be, but then again, I'm just starting out. ;) Stay tuned...
